2016 FaB Talent Survey
 
 
 
INTRODUCTION

The survey was developed by FaB Wisconsin and conducted with MRA – The Management Association. For reach across Wisconsin, we also partnered with the Midwest Food Processors Association and the Wisconsin Brewers Guild. The survey was funded in-part by the Milwaukee 7 and The New North economic development organizations.
 
The survey's purpose is to qualify industry talent needs that can better inform FaB's, our partners', and the state's strategic efforts to ensure a pipeline of talent is developed and advanced to fill the needs of Wisconsin's growing food and beverage industry.
 
If your business hasn't already begun to feel a tightening of the talent/workforce pool, you will. Regardless of the size of your company, the demand for industry talent is about to become incredibly competitive. And it will remain so, with an imminent talent shortage facing the nation that is being compounded by a shift in career preferences. This survey's significance is amplified by the food safety training being required of the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) and Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) Certifications.

 
SURVEY SCOPE
  1. Learn make-up of current workforce (education level, percent retiring)
  2. Identify types of positions that are in most demand
  3. Identify current industry specific training sources and preferred delivery options
  4. Identify support for training and development

Food and beverage companies defined as food, beverage, ingredients, packaging and equipment manufacturers, processors, food and beverage distributors, grocers and food service were invited to participate. The following companies completed our survey:
