It’s here! Introducing the FaBsafe Certificate, a basic food safety certificate for individuals working for, or looking to work for, a food and/or beverage manufacturing company. On May 24 and June 27, we’ll hold our first pilot classes before taking the certificate live to an online platform. Be among the first to take our new certificate for a test drive and receive an early bird discounted rate of $125, a $25 savings.

If your company is looking for an affordable, reliable, and reputable source for basic food safety training that meets the requirements of the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA), the FaBsafe Certificate is a great option. FSMA requires all individuals working in a food or beverage manufacturing plant to have documented food safety training on an annual basis.

Upon passing the quizzes, attendees will receive a renewable and documented food safety training certificate of completion. A FaBsafe Certificate is good for one year and renewable annually. A FaBsafe Certificate does not replace training specific to the food or beverage manufacturer you work for, but does offer a foundation of food safety training that may be applied to any food manufacturing environment.

The one day (9:00 am – 4:00 pm) food safety training certificate of completion will include the following five modules, each followed by a quiz:

1. Good Manufacturing Practices GMPs)
2. Employee GMPs and Personal Hygeine
3. Sanitation and Environmental Programs
4. Food Safety Plan and Hazard Analysis
5. Regulatory Compliance with FDA (Food and Drug Administration) and USDA (U.S. Department of Agriculture)


MEET THE INSTRUCTOR
Attendees will have the opportunity to learn directly from the certificate's developer, Pat Werner. Pat is director of food safety, quality, and compliance for FaB Wisconsin. She comes to her role with more than 30 years of industry experience, most recently with Chr. Hansen. Pat earned her bachelor's degree in biology from Western Illinois University and her MBA from Kellogg Graduate School of Management.

Currently employed individuals working for a food, beverage or ingredients manufacturer or commissary, or individuals looking to pursue a career or job in food and beverage manufacturing.

UW-Milwaukee's School of Continuing Education provides a parking discount for participants in its classes/programs who park in The Shops of Grand Avenue structure. The structure is entered from Plankinton Avenue between Wisconsin Avenue and Michigan Street. 
Bring your parking gate ticket with you for validation and a reduce rate of $6.

To find UW-Milwaukee once in the Mall from the parking structure, enter the east end or Plankinton Building/Shops of Grand Avenue mall and walk around the rotunda to the elevators on the north side of the building (closest to Wisconsin Avenue). Take the elevators to the sixth floor, proceed to Room 7970.
