The FDA has authorized the use of specific PFAS (per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances) for food-related products, including paperboard packaging, pet food bags, fast food wrappers, and as a processing aid in food manufacturing equipment, for nearly 60 years. Extremely long-lasting, practically unbreakable, and possibly linked to health and environmental issues, these compounds have drawn considerable negative attention from environmental advocates and consumers alike. Join us as our panel of experts dive into the greater implications of PFAS use, state bans on use, and what this means for your business. This event is open to all FaB members.

MEET OUR SPEAKERS
Leah takes a big-picture approach in advising clients as they face challenges on environmental, food safety, and regulatory compliance issues. She draws on experience gained in cases involving the EPA, FDA, and other public agencies. Leah’s success as a counselor, litigator, and negotiator reflects her combination of subject matter expertise, industry knowledge, and creativity.
Jen Pino-Gallagher is the director of food and agribusiness practice at M3 Insurance. She identifies the most effective and efficient way to help clients in the food and agribusiness industry identify growth opportunities and reduce risk within their operations. She leverages M3’s multiple resources and her industry-specific expertise to help clients remain competitive within the increasingly globalized world of food and agribusiness.
For the last five years, Alex has been with M3 Insurance as a Senior Account Manager, helping clients with their day to day insurance needs in addition to strategic planning for their future risk transfer needs. The five years prior to M3, her focus was spent within the environmental marketplace where she was both an account manager as well as an environmental underwriter. Alex's time spent within the environmental marketplace has left her with a unique knowledge base that allows her to advise clients on their environmental exposures as well as negotiate terms that best fit their needs.
Peg brings over twenty years of experience in the food industry as a Quality Systems Manager. Duties included performing internal auditing, writing SOPs, writing an approving corrective actions, preparing export documentation, and participation in food and pharmaceutical audits. Peg spent two years as a third party auditor for NSF international.
